College Place
The house is a very sweet (but very old) workers cottage set in the back streets of Albert Park. The addition to the rear took inspiration from the existing Spanish mission street frontage. This curved painted brick facade includes lovely coloured porthole windows serving the upstairs bedroom and features timber batten screens which prevent overlooking into the neighbour’s yards.
The plan is a little unconventional as we located the kitchen at the front of the house facing the street so the owners can watch the street whilst they cook and use the tiny front garden. Travelling down the house, the next room is a big wet room/laundry. The owner is a mad keen scuba diver so this room was designed so that he can clean off all his wet and sandy equipment and hang his drysuit after a session in the ocean or bay.
